Rust removal and coating works of steel structure buildings
Rust removal and coating of steel structures is a work easily ignored by steel structure contractors and is also a weak link in steel structure engineering construction. If this phenomenon is not corrected, it will have a great impact on the construction quality of the steel structure, because the quality of rust removal and painting will directly affect the maintenance cost of the steel structure during its future use, as well as the service life of the steel structure project, the safety of the structure, and the fire resistance time in case of fire (fire-resistant painting). The ideological root of this phenomenon lies in the lack of awareness of the importance of painting work by the relevant personnel of the Contractor, coupled with the lack of quality responsibility and even profit-seeking, which eventually leads to frequent problems in the quality of painting works. Therefore, the supervising engineer must attach great importance to the rust removal and coating work, and strictly inspect and accept each process, which is the basis and guarantee for ensuring the coating quality of steel structures. Regarding the painting quality of steel structure works, the following work should be done well:
(1) The de-rusting quality of steel members shall be strictly accepted according to the grade required by the design;
(2) Check the factory quality certificate of raw materials for painting, and the approval certificate of the fire department for fire retardant coating;
(3) Thoroughly remove dirt, oil stain, and other sundries on the surface of components before painting;
(4) The coating construction shall be carried out in a dust-free and dry environment, and the temperature and humidity shall meet the specification requirements;
(5) The number of brushing times and coating thickness shall meet the design requirements;
(6) The damaged part of the coating shall be carefully treated to ensure the coating quality;
(7) Carefully check the coating adhesion;
(8) The appearance inspection and acceptance shall be carried out strictly to ensure that the coating quality meets the requirements of specifications and standards.
